FAQs
Do you take insurance?
Yes, we believe that therapy should be affordable and that you should be able to access your insurance We accept a wide range of plans from many different insurance providers, including Aetna, Medica, Medicare, Mercy, United Healthcare, and more. We know that navigating insurance is complicated, and we’ll help you verify your benefits before you see you therapist. Check out our Insurance & Fees for more information about who we are in-network with and what our Out of Pocket rates are.
What if you don’t take my insurance plan? Or what if I don’t want to use insurance? Can I still see a therapist?
Absolutely. Direct pay rates for a 50-minute session vary by educational attainment of the provider.
Licensed Psychologist: $183.75
Master’s Level Licensed Clinician: $161.25
Provisionally Licensed Therapist (under supervision): $127.50
How do I get started?
Contact us by email, phone, or through our online form. One of our office assistants will either answer the phone or get back to you as soon as possible (often within the same day). They’ll collect some basic information and figure out which of our therapists will be the best fit for you. Then, they will schedule you an intake appointment (and can offer you a spot within the next 14 days). Prior to your appointment, complete your intake paperwork on the patient portal, and you’ll be ready to get started.
How long will it take me to see my therapist after reaching out?
We will be able to offer you an appointment within two weeks of reaching out. Evening and weekend availability tends to be in higher demand and may take longer to schedule.
What will happen in my first session? What can I expect?
You can choose to have your first appointment online or in-person at our Crestwood location. Make sure you complete all paperwork ahead of time so that you and your therapist can focus on what matters to you in your first appointment. If you’re meeting online, go to the Our Team page of our website and click on the HIPAA-compliant Zoom link under your therapist’s picture to join their virtual therapy room. If you’re meeting in person, come to our office space in Suite 308 of the Crestwood Executive Center at the corner of Watson and Sappington (we have ample free parking in our lot and ADA-compliant accessibility). Your therapist will spend the first session getting to know you, your goals, and what’s bothering you to work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan. From there, you and your therapist will determine a recommended frequency of sessions (usually once per week or once every other week) to address what’s on your mind.
I hate technology. Can I just fill out paperwork on paper and see a therapist in person?
Yes. You can get started by calling us, talking to a real person, and setting up a time for an in-person appointment at our office in St. Louis, Missouri. We’re located in the Crestwood Executive Center at the corner of Watson and Sappington. Let our office assistants know that you’d like to complete paperwork in person, and come early to your first appointment. We accept check, cash, and credit card payments.
I love technology. Can I meet with my therapist exclusively online?
Most of time we are able to honor your request for online only therapy. However, there are rare occasions when a therapist may request that you come in person for your ongoing therapy work. This may be related to client safety concerns, lack of client access to appropriate technology or private home location for therapy, or client home address outside of therapist’s licensure state(s). Speak with our office assistants or your therapist if any of these issues are a concern for you.
What if I want to switch back and forth between in-person and telehealth?
Most of the time, we can accommodate this. As long as there are no ethical or logistical barriers to telehealth, this should be fine. Many of our therapists have designated work-from-home days based on their scheduling preferences, so be sure to communicate in advance to make sure that your therapist is available for an in-person appointment if that’s what you’d like to do.
What is your late cancellation policy?
As long as we receive at least 24 hours’ notice that you are unable to attend your appointment, there is no fee. We understand that sometimes something comes up within that 24-hour window, and to that end, we offer an alternative to charging the full fee (which is either the direct rate or—if you are using insurance—your insurance company’s reimbursement rate for the service that was canceled).
More than 24 hours’ notice: $0
After 24 hours but prior to the start of session: $50
After the start of session: Full fee for missed service
What if I’m sick? Or there’s an emergency?
We waive the late cancellation fee if there is a documented emergency (such as you or an immediate family member going to the emergency room) or if inclement weather leads to the cancellation of school in our office’s zip code or in your zip code. In the event of inclement weather, we will make every attempt to transition in-person appointments to virtual appointments in order to keep everyone safe and continue your access to therapy, but we understand that sometimes loss of childcare or inadequate access to telehealth equipment or internet access makes this impossible.
In order to avoid therapists’ being put in a position of evaluating the merit of a cancellation and to make the late cancellation fee fair and equitable to all our clients, documented emergencies and inclement weather resulting in school closures/hazardous conditions are the only exceptions to the late cancellation policy.
If you are sick but still feeling up to having therapy (such as having a cold but still interested in having support that day), please contact your therapist to transition to telehealth services.
My insurance policy has changed. How do I update you?
Please let us know as soon as possible if there are changes to your insurance. The easiest way to do this is to complete a Client Insurance Form on the patient portal, but if you have any questions, just call or email us.
